It took him 13 and a half hours to reach the summit to complete his trek, with snowfall in between. The mountain is between Pakistan and China.

The Bolivian Hugo Ayaviri made his quita mountain 'ochomil' on Wednesday, when he reached the summit of Gasherbrum I, which is located between China and Pakistan. The mountain has a height of 8,068 meters above sea level (masl) and it took him 13 hours and a half to reach it, besides not needing an oxygen tank.

The national mountaineer has already climbed five of the 14 'eight-thousanders' that exist on the planet. He has yet to conquer nine mountains that are above 8,000 meters above sea level (8,000 meters above sea level). A week before, the Bolivian had reached the summit of Gasherbrum II, also located between China and Pakistan, with an altitude of 8,035 meters above sea level.

In addition to the two aforementioned snow-capped peaks, Ayaviri also reached the summit of Nanga Parbat (Pakistan, 8,125 masl), Broad Peak (China/Pakistan, 8,047 masl) and K2 (China/Pakistan, 8,611 masl).

"Mission accomplished! I didn't think I could do Gasherbrum 1 without oxygen. I was very tired and the conditions were not easy. It had snowed a lot and we had to clear the trail. I left at 6:00 p.m. Pakistan time from Camp 2 on Tuesday, July 25. I reached the summit at 07:30 Pakistan time this Wednesday, July 26," Ayaviri wrote on his Facebook account.

The Bolivian made his feat possible, accompanied by Polish climber Andrzej Bargiel.

After 13h30 of climbing, I arrived exhausted but happy at the top of G1! I did it! Here I am back at camp 1. I am very happy with this success. Many thanks to my wife Anne, my family, my friends and colleagues for their support. Many thanks to my sponsors, Terres d'Aventure (Terdav pour les intimes), Kreadyf and FEBSA - Federación Boliviana de Ski y Andinismo", added Ayaviri in his publication.
